Mission to Give Back
When we first started creating masks, Camilla Limón donated them 1:1 to medical professionals, local hospitals, and the local community. We knew we could do more.
My family is from Lima, Peru, and one of my mother’s friends (yes, strong woman!) was organizing donations for a local hospital; Posta Médica del Caserío La Raya. It’s located in Lambayeque, which is found in beautiful Northern Peru.
What is so striking is this— we know the pandemic is horrible in the US, but we have been able to come together as a country and fight our supply shortage. In a country like Peru, many hospitals are still unable to overcome this difficulty. As of December 1, 2020, more than 1/2 of Lambayeque's population has been confirmed with COVID-19, with one of the highest death rates in the region.
Giving back to the hospital in Lambayeque, la Posta Médica del Caserío La Raya really spoke to me not only because my family is from Perú, and I am humbled and grateful to be able to give back, but also because it has helped me bring our community together. We have made a GoFundME, if you would like to donate directly.
We know for sure that it is something we will continue on doing, and this first step has inspired the next phase of Camilla Limón’s work. As much as aesthetic beauty and careful craftsmanship is part of our pieces, our heart’s work and what goodness we can craft for the world around us is now firmly a core facet of the Camilla Limón brand.
I can’t wait to tell you more about it soon.
