Mission to Give Back
My family is from Lima, Peru, and one of my mother’s friends (yes, strong woman!) was organizing donations for a local hospital; Posta Médica del Caserío La Raya. It’s located in Lambayeque, which is found in beautiful Northern Peru. What was so striking was this— I knew the pandemic was horrible here, but we were able to come together in America and fight our supply shortage. 1/3 of its population has been confirmed with COVID-19. In a country like Peru, many families weren’t able to overcome that initial difficulty.
Giving back to The hospital in Lambayeque, Posta Médica del Caserío La Raya really spoke to me for a few different reasons, Firstly, of course, because my family is from there and I am humbled and grateful to be able to give back. Secondly, it helped us bring our community together. After we posted about our work in Lambayeque, the donations that stemmed from our sales, we were able to inspire more people to do the same for their local communities, and communities in need everywhere around the world. I cannot describe the sense of fulfillment and joy this brought my team and my family. We know for sure that it is something we will continue on doing, and this first step has inspired the next phase of Camilla Limón’s work. As much as aesthetic beauty and careful craftsmanship is part of our pieces, our heart’s work and what goodness we can craft for the world around us is now firmly a core facet of the Camilla Limón brand..
I can’t wait to tell you more about it soon.
